Rohan's first summer holiday

17th - 26th August 2001
Other summer antics On friday, Mummy and Rohan packed all Rohan's clothes and favourite toys into bags.  Daddy came home on an early train  Everyone was very pleased when Rohan fell asleep at half past eight and the holiday began.

Rohan woke up on saturday morning in his bedroom at Granny and Grandad's house.  Everyone was very excited and in the afternoon, Auntie Karen arrived.  Daddy and Grandad chose a bucket and spade for Rohan; they told Rohan that he would need these in Cornwall.

Relaxing with Daddy
On Sunday, Rohan went out in his pram to some large gardens near Holmbush.  While they were there, everybody sat on a bench next a very big lake.  Rohan got up so that he could watch a black swan.  In the afternoon, everyone visited Eden and saw lots of tropcial plants in the large greenhouses.  It was very hot in there to help the special plants to grow.
After the weekend, the weather started to get sunnier.  This made Granny's sunflower grow taller and taller.  It was nearly 10 foot tall.  A lot taller even than Daddy.  Rohan and Daddy collected fir cones in the garden, Rohan could practise picking them up, with some help.

When the sun came out, everyone went to the beach.  Sometimes to Newquay, and sometimes to Caerhays and Carlyon Bay.  In Newquay, Rohan went in the big waves and in a rock pool while everyone else was surfing.  Mummy bought Rohan a windmill.  Rohan sat on the beach in his bouncy chair and on his orange blanket.  He watched Daddy and Mummy build sandcastles and Grandad dig a hole.  The hole was so deep that there was water in it .  Rohan wore his special fishy trunks to go to the beach.

Rohan's antics keep everyone amused

One day, everyone visited a Cider Farm.  Rohan touched a small Shetland pony and  big Shire horse.  Everybody else tasted some of the jam and drinks that they watched being made there.  At the end, Rohan was wide awake for a ride on a tractor and trailer through lots and lots of fruit trees.

Rohan decided Uncle Barry was actually quite tasty
There were lots of people to see in Cornwall, Rohan enjoyed meeting everyone.  One evening, Rohan stayed with Granny and Grandad while Mummy and Daddy went out.  On other evenings, Rohan slept through fireworks in Fowey, joined in a meal at the Brit and a drink at the Rashleigh.
On the last day in Cornwall, Auntie Suzy and Uncle Barry arrived in time for breakfast.  Later on, Grandad cooked a barbeque, even though it was raining.  Then everything was packed into the car again, including Rohan's new bucket, spade, tipper truck and windmill and even Mummy's old Mr. Happy book.  Rohan said goodbye to Sparkle and Tigger and then went to sleep in the car for the journey back home.
